Motivational Monday!

Hi all! Hope your weekend was great! I had a fun weekend that included throwing a surprise party/outing for Dan’s birthday…he was totally surprised and it was a blast.

So today’s quote reflects a topic of conversation I was having with friends over the weekend:

Money isn’t everything. It’s easy to get into a cycle of feeling like you need more money, or need to buy certain things…and some days I certainly feel that way. I feel like I should be making more or down on myself that I don’t, but I love this quote.

Right now, I have everything I could want in my life. Money isn’t the only thing that matters, and whenever I feel a bit down about it, I reflect on the things I am thankful for:

  • A roof over my head
  • My family
  • Plentiful food
  • …and much more

Do you ever get into moods where you wish you made more money?

What are you thankful for that money can’t buy?

Motivational Monday!

Can you believe it’s already the last week of January? I’m okay with that-because I would really like it to be spring already!

So I started listening to this song over the summer, and I loved the lyrics. It’s called Wings by Little Mix. Recently, I’ve been listening to it a lot again. Do you ever go through a phase where you listen to a song, get sick of it, then months later are playing it on repeat again?

Anyway, I love the lyrics and thought it would be great for today!

Sometimes it’s easy to get down on yourself if someone says something negative to you or doesn’t understand something you’re doing (working out, starting a business, leaving a career, etc). I listen to this song when I’m feeling that way and am immediate like, “Yeah, I can do this! Screw the haters!” :) It’s also just a really upbeat song that will definitely have you dancing around in your car.

Have you ever felt like that before? Do you have a song you listen to as a pick me up? Let me know so I can download it!

Motivational Monday!

Happy Monday! Hopefully extra happy Monday because you have off work today?

Today’s quote is inspirational and humorous…we could all use a little Monday humor sometimes!

Be happy today! Even if you woke up feeling stressed, tired, worried…try to change your perception and be happy. Some days I wake up feeling cranky, but need to remind myself of how great it is to be waking up, and have another day.

I saw this quote somewhere, and now of course can’t find it, but it was basically about this guy who would circle one day each month in his calendar, and right “Best day ever” on it. When that day came, he would live the day trying to fulfill “best day ever.” I thought it was cute and clever-a good way to not let life get in the way of being happy, at least once a month.

How did you wake up feeling today?

Do you have off work? What will you do with your free day?

Motivational Monday!

Happy Monday!

Hope everyone who experienced the snow storm moving across the country is staying safe…and for those of your in warmer states…I hate you ;)

Here’s today’s quote:

I saw this quote on a friend’s Facebook originally and loved it. So often we worry about what has happened in the past, or what we need to get done tomorrow or in the coming weeks. We stress out about it, perhaps take that stress out on loved ones, when there is no need to.

We can’t change the past or predict the future. I’ve been telling myself this often recently. I worry about the future, but believe everything will work out the best it can. I try not to stress, and am thankful for the support of my family and friends. That’s what really matters.

Today is a new day, and a new week…take it one day at a time. Just as marathoners tell each other before a race to “take it 1 mile at a time” – we should have the same view in life :)

Do you stress or worry a lot? How do you de-stress?

What’s something you’re looking forward to in the near future?

Motivational Monday!

Can you believe it is now December? Less than a month left in 2013! Wow…

Today’s motivational quote inspired me this weekend. As you know, I launched my own social media consulting business after grad school. I’ve been working part-time while trying to get more clients. It’s been going well, but it’s has had its ups and downs, which is expected. Some days I really feel like giving up on that dream…but then I see things like this and rally:

I’m taking a chance, but it’s a chance I can take right now, as opposed to when I’m older and need more financial security. It’s hard and stressful, but I want to continue to work on this goal and see where it takes me. If it doesn’t work out, then it doesn’t work out-but at least I tried.

What chances have you taken recently?

If you own a small business, what tips can you give me? ;)

Motivational Monday!

So yesterday it was around 25 degrees here, but felt like even less with windchill. I’ve ran in the cold before, begrudgingly, and after a snow storm, but it ended up not being bad at all!

I saw a lot of runners who posted about getting out there despite the conditions…that’s awesome! If I were running regularly, perhaps I would have gone out, but running really isn’t in my training plan right now ;)

Here’s a little motivation as we head into the winter:

I know you all will get after it no matter what, but in case you need some extra inspiration, this is a great quote! No matter if it’s summer or winter, you will never have perfect conditions. Just gear up and do it! The key to winter running is the right layers and gear, once you have that, I promise you won’t even feel the cold!

Do you prefer winter running or summer running? I prefer the cold…I sweat way too much in the summer!

Motivational Monday!

I’m back on track today…with blogging, eating, exercising, etc. I apologize for the lack of posts last week, but I was enjoying having some free time with no marathon training ;)

After the marathon, I thought about what do I want to do next…it can be easy to get the “post-marathon blues” since you no longer have a training schedule to follow. But I’m really excited to make a new training schedule revolving around lifting. I can’t wait to get back into the gym.

In the past, after big races, I have taken at least a month off and done nothing. Then, I’d have to build back up from zero and that was frustrating…and my own fault! Now, 1 week after my key race of the year, I’m ready to continue building upon my foundation.

I will be getting back into lifting, while continuing to cross-train to maintain my cardio fitness. As the quote says, you need to put in effort day in and day out to achieve your goals. And I already have a few goals laid out for 2014!

Do you know what you want to accomplish before 2013 is over? Or in 2014?

How do you go about laying out goals and the steps you will take to get there?

Motivational Monday!

Happy Monday! I’m working 7am-3pm today so I was up at the crack of dawn literally…and feeling it. After running 16 miles yesterday, all I wanted to do was sleep this morning. Hopefully I can take a nap later this afternoon ;)

I found this quote and loved it.

I’ve been a little stressed recently. Obviously, starting your own business isn’t easy, but at the same time, I have student loans plus a ton of other bills to pay currently, so that’s been stressing me out. I’m in the process of applying to some full time jobs in order to have more of an income. Thankfully my parents are supporting and help me out when I need it.

Sometimes, I let stress get to me and I have a little pity party. But then I stop and realize the great things about my life, and that these things will all work out. I know I will work through it and be successful.

I don’t like to stress about things for a long period of time. I give myself a short amount of time to be angry, cry, whatever…then move on. Because will those emotions help fix things? No.

Stress sucks…but it’s Monday – new week to make things happen!

How do you handle stress? Do you get stressed easily or let things roll off your back?

Motivational Monday!

It’s crazy raining here in NJ currently! I actually ran this morning, and it’s a good thing I didn’t leave later because otherwise I would have been caught in a thunderstorm. I will recap on that run later today.

Here’s a quote I found that I absolutely love:

It’s just cute and inspirational at the same time. I was “bold” today by actually getting up at 7 when my alarm went off to go for a run. I technically could have slept until 9:30 because I don’t have work until 11, and I almost stayed in bed but I dragged myself out and went for an easy 3 miler which felt great!

PS- In case you missed it, last week I did a roundup on my favorite healthy recipes…check it out!

What kind of “motivational quotes” inspire you or speak to you? Do you like just text or an image too? I’m a fan of both!
