What’s In My Gym Bag?

Disclaimer: This post was sponsored by HerCampus and Affinitas. All opinions are my own.

Now that I work two shifts, one in the office and one as a cross country coach, I need to get all my gym stuff ready in the morning and bring it with me. I go directly to the gym or for a run after work.

Here’s a peek into what I have in my gym bag at the moment:

Side note: I love my hair brush that says “Is it Friday yet?” No really….is it? :-P

Anyway, here are the items that are always in my bag starting from top left:

  • Sports bra
  • Small towel
  • Workout top
  • Workout shorts
  • FlipBelt for my runs
  • Hair brush
  • Deodorant
  • Change of clothes for after my shower

I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve meant to shower at the gym and forget something, like my towel or underwear…ugh the worst.

Well, that’s where Cupcake Panties come in handy!

What? Cupcake Panties? Yes you heard me right. Now, if you’re like me, you may have immediately thought these were some sort of edible underwear or something. They’re not. They’re underwear that come in a little cupcake packaging, which makes it the perfect on-the-go item to carry in your gym bag or purses!

It’s discreet and you’ll never have that embarrassing moment of grabbing something out of your bag and accidentally pulling your underwear out as well.

I really do love the packaging, and the underwear is super cute too! Cupcake Panties come in lacy hipster and lacy thongs, so you can keep them in your bag and always be prepared.

I personally love these because, as I mentioned above, I have pulled stuff out of my bag before and had my underwear come out too. This also happens probably because sometimes I pack my gym clothes in my normal bag, but still. The cupcake packaging is cute and very useful! I plan on keeping these in my gym bag so I’m prepared next time I need to shower at the gym.

Lucky Stars Designs Update

As I wrote about in December, my mom and I have been working hard to create tote bags and duffels for our Etsy shop. We wanted to create cute, patterned (and waterproof) bags as gym bags, because most are just plain colors…and who doesn’t want to have a nice bag for the gym ;)

We mainly created our store to help a charity close to our hearts – Manitos. Manitos aids children diagnosed with cancer in our native country of Paraguay. 10% of each purchase goes back to them, and we can’t wait to visit the hospital they are partnered with when we travel to Paraguay in July.

Since starting in December, we have actually added a few new & different types of items to our store, so I wanted to give you all an update!

We finally finished our first duffel bag, which is water resistant material inside and outside – which is perfect for gym clothes. I love the pattern and wish I could keep it for myself :)

Shop here.

And we decided to add a few new items. My mom has her own business already as an interior decorator. She creates custom draperies, pillows, covers and more for her clients, so she decided why not make pillows for Lucky Stars Designs? Here are 2 that are in our shop currently:

She also has made foam/cork boards for clients, so we decided to make one for the shop. It’s perfect for race memorabilia, or photos in general.

Lastly, I decided to start creating printables. I love quotes (as noted by my “Motivational Monday” posts), and my day-job is as a graphic/marketing designer, so I figured I’d work on some of those, while also increasing my portfolio ;) Here is one of my favorite quotes that is actually hanging in my own living room:

My mom and I have decided to use our skills (hers in interior design work and mine in graphic design) to be social entrepreneurs. Our main goal is to sell our wares so we can continue sending checks to Manitos. If you’re not interested in anything in our store, that’s totally okay! Perhaps consider making a donation directly to Manitos if you’d like.

You can shop through our entire store here.

I hope we can continue to grow and help where we can. I’m really excited for our trip to Paraguay and Brazil this summer…now time to start saving money!

What patterns are your favorite? I’m always open to ideas and requests! If you have a specific request, we can certainly work with you to create it.

Are you going anywhere this summer? What is your dream country you’d like to visit?

A New Venture + Giveaway!

I have some exciting news! If you follow me on Twitter and Instagram, then you already know, but I haven’t written about it here yet.

My mom and I have been working on making gym bags for a few months now. We got the idea when I said I wanted a duffel bag that was actually cute. So we started making one. Then I thought, we should make more and sell them, and also partner with a charity.

For the past few months we had wanted to figure out a way to help children in need in our native country of Paraguay. I did some research on charities and found Manitos.

Manitos helps children diagnosed with cancer in Paraguay. They donate money and supplies to the National Cancer Institute, which is the only hospital for cancer patients in the entire country. Taken from their website:

Children who are fortunate enough to be properly diagnosed have only a 50% survival rate over five years—in part because they may have to wait months or even years for treatment due to lack of funds or chemotherapy drugs. By contrast, the National Cancer Institute here estimates that pediatric cancer patients in the United States have a five-year survival rate of almost 80%.

So here we are now. We opened up our Etsy shop and hope you will consider shopping around! 10% of the proceeds of each sale will be donated back to Manitos.

At the same time, you get a custom-made, exclusive bag. We will only make 1-3 bags of each pattern, and will post new patterns monthly for you to choose from. It’s a great way to have something no one else will have!

All bags are water-resistant inside, which is perfect for sweaty clothes, sneakers and more.

Here are some pictures of our products (these patterns are no longer available, but below you will see fabric options).

We plan on adding more fabric selections next month, and changing them up each month to maintain exclusivity.

Please let me know if you’re interested in a certain fabric/style of bag! We are working on one more type of tote bag to add as well.

You can find our online shop HERE.

Please help us spread the word! We appreciate your support, especially in helping out Manitos!

We are giving away 1 custom-made make-up bag! Style is like the one shown in the above pictures. Choose from the above fabrics, or these 2:

Forgot a Change of Clothes!

I HATE when this happens! I have my running class today, and afterwards Dan and I are going to the Rutgers v. Seton Hall basketball game, so I need to shower at the gym. Of course I forgot my gym bag with all the necessities like a towel, shampoo, change of clothes…

Looks like I’m going to Target before my class to buy some stuff!

Today we will be running 5 miles. I’m not sure yet it I will do the 5 miles or stick to 4. It depends on the time (because of the game) and how my shins feel. I want to do the 5 miles but I think timewise it won’t work. I plan on doing the 5 miles later this week no matter what.

I’m really excited because on Friday I will be going to Finish Line PT in New York City to get a functional movement assessment and run on an Alter-G treadmill! I won this through Jess’s blog (FitChickintheCity). Finish Line sent me and my mom giftcards so we’ll be making the trip on Friday. Maybe they can help me solve my shin issues?! One can only hope.

This was a totally random post of random thoughts. I will leave you with a meme because I love memes, it’s the afternoon, and I’m sure we would all like to take a nap right now ;)

What do you do when you forget to pack your gym bag? What’s the worst thing you’ve ever forgotten?
