Runner’s Wishlist

So now that I will be starting to run again and train for a half-marathon (and possibly a marathon), I’ve been eyeing up some running gear. You can never have too much right?? Too bad my wallet doesn’t agree :(

Here’s what’s currently on my wish-list:

nike-flyknit

 Nike Flyknit Lunar2

I’ve never ran in Nike shoes, but I love these sneakers and they’d be great for lifting and cross training.

lulu-tank

 lululemon Tone It Tank

And it has a pocket in the back for your keys and gels!

sweaty-bands

 Sweaty Bands

I’ve heard so many people rave about this headband, I might give it a try. I sweat a lot, so it’d be perfect for me. I’ve used Halo bands in the past but these patterns are just really cute!

erica-sara-designs

Erica Sara Designs Say It Do It Wrap Bracelet

Love, love, love this bracelet. Would be perfect for long runs and hard workouts when you need those positive affirmations.

yurbuds

Yurbuds for women

I currently wear some “Beats” knock-offs from Five Below (hey, if I’m going to be sweating in them I’m okay with a pair of $5 headphones), but I’ve heard a lot about Yurbuds. I usually hate buds because they fall out of my ears but supposedly these don’t budge, and help you hear ambient noise as well, like car traffic.

What’s currently on your running/fitness wishlist?

What’s one thing you can’t live without when it comes to running or fitness?

  1. I love the Yurbuds! I really do. My only complaint about them though is if you lose the buds, you have to order them from the company. I’ve lost 3 sets of buds already. Very annoying.

    • Hmm very interesting – I did not know that! So it’s true that they don’t fall out of your ears even if you sweat a lot?

  2. Lifelong tennis player with bad knees. Started running and the 1st month everything hurt. I researched technique and shoes. A friend ( IM ) suggested Newtons. It took two weeks to get over the cost and get used to them but for the first time in 20 years my knees don’t hurt? You really do have to try lots of different shoes to find which are best for you. Pain free running in Newton Motion.

    • I have actually heard a lot about newtons…I’m always scared to try new shoes though because what if I hate them and I just spent a ton on them??!

      • … then you sell them on eBay or Craigslist to get some of your money back! As long as you are honest about their condition and how much you’ve run in them, someone will buy them!

  3. I don’t run in Nikes either, but those sure are cute. The Nikes that I own were all bought for that reason :-)

I don’t get headbands. I think there are so many cute ones, but they don’t stay on my head! They just slide right off. I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong or my head is just shaped wrong.

    • I have the same issue with headbands! I think that the sweaty bands don’t slide off though, according to what I’ve heard.

  4. I love Sweaty Bands! They definitely don’t come off! I prefer Bamr Bands though…they are cheaper and the same quality. Yurbuds are awesome too! Welcome back to running!

  5. I would definitely recommend a pair of Skora Running shoes to that list :)

  6. My sister has those Nikes and she LOVES them- I’m pining for a pair myself! The shoes I’m running in are old Merrells that are really meant for hiking- yikes! I will say that they are super comfortable. Good luck training for a half marathon, I’m aiming for my first 5k! :)

  7. I’m having the same issue right now of wanting new kit, but not having much money as a uni student!

On my wishlist are also some trainers and a new kit bag as my bag and Nike Air Excels (which aren’t really sold anymore :( ) are seeing the end of their days! I am considering the Nike Free trainers – have you heard much about them?

    • My brother loves the Nike Frees but for me it just wouldn’t be supportive enough. I’d love a pair for lifting though! Let me know if you try them out!

      • Hi Patty,

I tried them on and it was exactly as you said – It just felt like my feet had little support and I do a lot of high impact stuff so I wasn’t keen on them. I ended up buying some Nike Vomero +7′s which have great support, are sturdy and comfortable (and make me feel taller lol)! It just shows how important it is to try them on beforehand!

I hope you get to buy something on your list soon :) I love the bracelet!

        • Thanks for the feedback! Yeah if I got the frees I’d use them just for lifting. I def could not run in them. Too bad they’re so pricey!
